How many of us might have felt inconsequential about ourselves when we couldn't achieve our goal even after numerous attempts? Also, some of us become so conscious of word failure that we don't even spare our loved ones when they don't reach their goal. But Rohan Bopanna was not like us. He failed 64 times in pursuit of winning a men's doubles grand slam, yet he didn't give up. At 43, in his 65th attempt, Rohan Bopanna, with Australian partner Matthew Edbden, won his first men's grand slam tournament, the Australian Open (AO). Continuing his dream journey, he also attained world number one after winning the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. He emerged victorious in the French Open mixed grand slam tournament with his Canadian companion, Gabriela Dabrowski, in 2017.
It has been more than three decades since he started playing tennis. Anyone would have quit playing tennis by now, after playing so long, if not for their love of the game. He grew with every game, bringing laurels to it. Hailing from Coorg, Karnataka, India, Rohan Bopanna once thought of ending his tennis career after being winless for nearly 5 months, but he maintained perseverance. With the unwavering support of a loving family and dedicated coaching staff, he persevered through challenging moments. Rohan Bopanna is well known for using sports to bring peace to the world. He was the recipient of the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year Award for his campaign "Stop War, Stop Tennis," along with Pakistani player Qureshi, and was also nominated for Champion for Peace by the Monaco-based organization Peace and Sport for 2010. He is also named to receive one of the Indian Top Civilian Awards, Padma Shri, for the year 2024 for outstanding performance in sports.

Success in the grand slam was always luring him, but he always focused. His family stood by him always during tough times. On the path towards achieving success, he not only fine-tuned his game but also his character. He gives back to society by generating funds for physically handicapped schoolchildren and by providing affordable dental treatment for people in his home town, Coorg. The gentleman found solace in helping people in need.
Rohan Bopanna is a champion on and off the field and is proving that age is just a number and is never a hindrance to pursuing your goal. He won his first men's grand slam, the Australian Open, at the age of 43. He never feels like he is 43, but he says proudly that he has reached level 43.
