A historic event unfolded in Newlands! Indian test cricket team triumphantly won over host South Africa in the Newlands test match in just 107 overs, with 642 balls balled- the shortest test match ever played in the history of test cricket. Indian test team won the Newlands test after being hammered in the first test, losing it with a margin of innings and 32 runs. Newlands test win for India is their first-ever win after seven attempts. The architects of this incredible win are Siraj, Bumrah and Poor Pitch.

The South African captain won the toss and elected to bat. On the Newlands wicket, South Africans didn't have answers to Siraj's swing and bounce. From 1-5 to 10-55, Indian bowlers ripped apart South Africans. Kyle Verreynne remained the highest score for South Africa in 1st Innings with 15 runs. The Proteas could only manage to stay 23.2 overs on the Newlands wicket. The Hyderabadi craftsman Siraj hit the ball regularly in the good length area and posed tough questions to the South African batsmen. He took 6 wickets in 9 overs at an economy of 1.66. Indian bowler's venomous bowling reduced South Africa to one of their lowest-ever score.

Indian team started their first innings with a bang, scoring with a run rate of nearly 5 runs per over. At one point, India was 3-105 at 20.6 overs. When everything was going well, the poor pitch again played its part. The invariable bounced wicket with the ball both stayed low and bounced off the track creating trouble for Indian batsmen. Indian middle and lower order failed in the tough pitch conditions and lost from 153-4 to 153-10 in eleven deliveries from 33.1 to 34.5 overs and lost all middle and lower order wickets.
Indian team managed to get a crucial lead of 98 runs, even after lower order collapse. Aiden Makram led the South African batsmen by scoring 106 runs because of a reprieve given by KL Rahul, as he dropped a catch off Bumrah's bowling. However, he could inspire his team to fight it out on a sluggish outfield wicket.

Bumrah shined in the second innings, as he took 6 wickets and reduced South Africa to 176 runs. His toe-crushers and bouncers were too hot for South African batsmen to handle. South Africa managed to set India a target of 80 runs.
Indian batsmen reached the 80-run target in 12 overs at 6.66 runs per over and created a record for winning a match in just 107 overs.
