Many parks have fun equipment, but with sign boards "only for children" to swing, slide, play climbers, and see-saw. The adults who bring their children to the parks are restricted to doing some unamusing exercise drills. Child behaviour in adults is forced to be in a dormant state; neglecting the role of fun games is crucial in maintaining the mental and physical health of adults.

Downsliding Fun

Weekend boozing at parties and smoking cigarettes are perceived as fun by few, at the expense of health. Long drives, trekking, surfing, etc. are considered fun by others. Our health is impacted by what we choose and do. For most of us, fun is a weekly affair on Saturdays or Sundays. But science says fun is more important for a good work-life balance and good health.

Science suggests five reasons why we should have fun in our lives.

Having more fun is good for our relationships

Studies say that when we have fun together, it helps us trust each other more and communicate better. Plus, having fun lets us connect with others and be more creative.

Having fun can also make us smarter

Scientists say that having fun can help us remember things better and focus more. It seems like when we have fun doing activities that teach us new things, it helps us learn on our own without someone telling us what to do.

When life gets stressful, having fun can help

Laughing and enjoying ourselves can help us deal with stress better. People who laugh a lot tend to feel happier compared to those who don't laugh as much.

Doing fun things helps balance our hormones

Stress messes with our hormones and neurotransmitters (especially cortisol and noradrenalin) and makes us feel all out of sorts. But doing fun stuff regularly can help keep our hormones in check.

Fun makes us feel more energetic and youthful

Stress can make us feel tired and grumpy, but having fun can give us a new lease on life. Even though we usually associate fun with kids, many smart people say that having fun is important for adults too. They think that life should be fun and that playing keeps us young at heart.

What if we avoid Happiness

We miss all these health benefits when we avoid fun. A few small steps, like developing parks with play equipment made even for adults, can help greatly in decreasing the risk of many diseases in adults.

Adults need to shackle the feeling of guilt, the feeling of appropriateness, and enjoy themselves like children. Societies and governments must think in the direction of gifting a fun-filled life to adults by gifting them an adult playing park.

Fun is more than medicine, isn't it?
